Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
A great leader is one who leads beyond their heartfelt emotions. A good parent is one who parents beyond their heartfelt emotions. A financially stable person is one who purchases beyond their heartfelt emotions. Think about this for any type of situation where a decision needs to be made. Do we make decisions for our children because we want them to like us and be our friend? Do we buy a new car because we will look and feel so cool in it? Do we make a management decision because we want to favor or hurt someone? Do we date someone because we feel butterflies in our stomach? If we make decisions in this manner, we have overlooked scripture that tells us that our “heart” is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.
We always have to remember that every decision in life must first start with a “mind” that is centered on Christ. We check ourselves not by how we feel in our heart, but we check first through being smart in our mind. Being smart in our mind means looking to what the Word of God says and living it out. We live it out not because it feels good or is easy, but we live it out because it is the way God has called us to live. Do not trust your deceitful heart. Trust a mind centered on Christ.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
