Little, Big Things

Matthew 14:17 – 17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

For many years, we hosted a Christmas Day homeless outreach in downtown Los Angeles. One Christmas, we had more homeless guests than we had planned for. We had planned for 60 people and over 80 ended up attending. Unbelievably, even though 20 more people showed up, everyone was blessed with a warm breakfast and a bag of gifts. It truly was a blessing from God (I still can’t explain how it all worked out).

In today’s passage, we read of the apostle’s response to Jesus when they told Him they only had “five loaves and two fish” to feed over five thousand people. A few verses later we read that Jesus in fact fed all the people and even had several baskets of food left over. Jesus can do amazing things with very little. Perhaps you look at your life and feel that the gifts and talents you have are nothing very special. That is exactly what the Lord is looking for. He specializes in doing big things with little resources. Remember that God can and will do great things through you regardless of how great and big you think your talents are. You don’t make your talent’s big, God does.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
