Her Firstborn Son

Luke 2:4-7 – Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

It is hard to imagine what was going through Mary and Joseph’s minds as they welcomed their new son into the world. So much had already been said about Him, so many expectations placed on Him. How could these two teenagers raise the Son of God? From the moment He was born, they knew He was not theirs but He belonged to God. He would never grow to get married and raise a family, His mission was much greater — to save a world that had been lost to sin. What an amazing responsibility placed on these two teenagers, yet, they willingly accepted it because they knew that God was with them. As you face your trials, struggles and pain, remember that you are not alone. God is for you, Jesus came to you and the Holy Spirit lives in you.
