Deal With Your Sin

2 Samuel 13:28-29 – 28 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, “Watch now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon!’ then kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.” 29 So the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and each one got on his mule and fled.

“Little problems can soon become big problems if they are not dealt with”. That is a saying I have heard growing up and it is a saying that I have often said myself. Little things (a small leak in your roof) can become a big thing (damage to your house) if you  don’t do something about it before the rains come. Same with sin. Sin can become a big problem in our lives if we do not deal with them immediately when they are “small”.

In today’s scripture, we read of the story of David’s children. Amnon (David’s son) did a horrible thing – he raped his own sister, Tamar (David’s daughter). Upon hearing of this horrible act, David did nothing. Because he refused to deal with the sin, “the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded”. In other words, one of David’s other sons killed his brother because of what he had done. If we do not deal with the sin in our lives, it will continue to grow and be destructive to ourselves and all around us. Don’t wait until your sin is so “big” that it ruins you. Address it now, correct it, repent from it. Don’t ignore your sin because your sin doesn’t ignore you.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
